Not leaders. People.
Every person we document is kept here: their story in their own words, the evidence behind it, and their permission to hold it for good.
The register.
Numbered in the order the work is done, never by importance. A number is never reused and a record is never deleted.
What is in a record.
Every record asks the same seven questions, in the same order, of every person. In fifteen years that is what lets two hundred of them be compared. Choose a line to see what it asks.
A person's name
One sentence: what exists because of them.
The work
What exists because of them, written so a stranger to their field understands it in one paragraph.
What they saw
The judgement underneath the work. What was obvious to them, and not yet to anyone around them.
What they did
The decision, not the personality. The specific thing chosen when something else could have been.
What it cost
Money, years, relationships, health. A record without this section is publicity.
What failed
The part people are most reluctant to give, and the most useful to whoever comes next.
What made it possible
Timing, a family, a teacher, a policy, luck. Leave this out and a profile becomes a myth.
What they would tell you
Advice for somebody twenty years younger, in their own words. Quoted, never paraphrased.
Underneath every published record sits the recording, the transcript, the sources and the signed permission. That is what makes it a record rather than an article.
How somebody gets in.
- 01
Named
Somebody who has watched their work nominates them, or we find them ourselves.
- 02
Checked
We check the work, not the reputation, with people who have nothing to gain.
- 03
Interviewed
At length, recorded and transcribed. Rarely in under two hours.
- 04
Recorded
Published with the evidence and permission underneath it. Permanently.
What a record is not.
- A ranking.
No positions, no scores, no annual reshuffle.
- Paid for.
No fee, no sponsorship, no table at a dinner. Money never buys a place.
- Chosen by funders.
Funders support the institution. They never decide who is in it, or see a record first.
- Only for the successful.
Somebody in the middle of a hard attempt that may still fail belongs here too.
- A press release.
Everyone is asked what failed. We never publish a version that pretends we did not ask.
- Permanent praise.
If the evidence changes, the record is corrected in public, not quietly taken down.
The record is open. It starts with somebody you already know.
Most people who belong here will never put themselves forward. They will be named by somebody who has watched them work. It takes about five minutes, and you do not need their permission.
